Traditional Worship
(Sundays, 8:30 AM & 11:00 AM)

The goal of our worship is to encounter the living God.
We approach God by seeking to relate to the risen Christ, which, according to the teachings of Jesus, is possible because of the power of the God’s Holy Spirit.  While worship happens first between an individual & God, the Scriptures also place a high priority on worship in community.

The United Methodist Churches embrace a basic pattern of worship that aims at what Jesus called worshiping “in Spirit & in truth.” Growing out of patterns & principles found in the Christian Scriptures, this basic pattern has proven itself over the centuries, contributes to a sense of identity for The United Methodist Church, & links us to our roots in the early Church.  This pattern has been fleshed out by the experience & traditions of Christian congregations for 2,000 years.  It is not a confining order, but a pattern of basic elements, & does not limit us to a single worship style or liturgy.  We celebrate the fact that churches of different sizes in different parts of the world, in different communities with different people groups & local traditions can worship in styles that enable the people of those churches to feel at home.

Elements of Traditional Worship

Seeking an ever-deepening understanding of the Scriptures by readings, witnessing, preaching, dialogue, music (Psalms, hymns, anthems, etc.), arts & media.

Responding to God’s Word by acts of faith, commitment & service for the world & others in the worshiping community, prayers, gifts, tithes & offerings.

Thanksgiving and Communion - Participation in Holy Communion & other expressions of thanks for God’s mighty acts for us in the Person, life & words of Jesus Christ.

Continued service to others as followers of Jesus Christ under, counting on the direction & power of the Holy Spirit and the blessing of God.
