Rev. Karen Hoyt, Associate Pastor, Pastoral Care

Karen serves as a deacon for the United Methodist Church with the North Georgia Conference and will be commissioned  in June 2019. Karen is a native Brit, originally from Surrey in England, where her family still resides.  She is a full time staff chaplain  at Northeast Georgia Medical Center at Gainesville, and at Braselton and the chaplain for Women and Children’s services. Karen’s call to pastoral ministry began as a Stephen Minister in 2006 with the United Methodist Church before she became a Children’s and Families Director at Hopewell UMC in Tyrone, GA and then at North Decatur UMC in Atlanta, GA. Karen earned her BS in Counseling from Point University, and her M.Div. from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, GA  Karen currently lives in Gainesville, having relocated from Colorado in 2001, with husband, Dave and their four children. Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her adult children and one grandchild, as well as hiking with her husband and their dogs in the mountains.
