What a joy to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new elementary school being built next door to our campus for both the Oakwood and McEver Arts Academy students. We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership and all the possibilities to bless students and their families in the days and years to come! 🏫🎓🙌🏼😇🙏🏼

We enjoyed hosting the Leadership and Innovation Academy members from throughout our North GA Conference. We focused on Fresh Expressions and the Blended Ecology as well as heard from Rev. Marshall Bruner about Clergy Care and Wellbeing.

Looks like our little leaders had too much fun waving palms and singing “Hosannah” this morning! 🌿👋🏼🤩😇 We observed together the start of this Holy Week, where we hold in tension the weight of the cross and the freedom of Resurrection that is to come! We placed some crosses out on the “hill” just in time for Holy Week - a sign that the worst parts of our stories are never the end of our story! Congrats to our AOL’s from Pack 204, who shot their arrows of light and “crossed over” to become Boy and Girl Scouts earlier this week! 🙌🏼 The rain couldn’t stop the smiles or the light from shining! 😊⭐️

Ash Wednesday kicks off the season of Lent where we intentionally draw close to God as God draws close to us. The ashes symbolize our brokenness, death, and grief. The ashes are mixed with oil and we make the “sign of the cross,” which is marked on our foreheads. These symbols together represent our healing and anointing that God brings in the midst of our brokenness. We then are invited to make “room” in our lives for more of God and we “pause” something - or fast - to focus more on God and God’s presence. What are you pausing/fasting from this Lent? Our Leadership Team retreat was a time for sharing, teaching, and inspiration. A smaller group ended up finishing the evening on a high note with some bowling!! 🎳💥🏆 Although not everyone is pictured, we’re grateful for each person saying, “Yes,” to God’s call and we are excited about where God is leading us throughout the rest of 2024! 🙌🏼

Our School Partnership Team enjoyed meeting with the counselors of West Hall High School earlier this week to deepen our existing relationship and explore new opportunities to support teachers and students. Another great way we have been able to start the new year! 📚🎓💯🤩🙌🏼

Cub Scout Pack 204 had a very merry Christmas party last night! There were games, awards, hot cocoa, crafts, and cookies - LOTS of cookies for the great cookie exchange! 🍪 We also had a special visitor come to take pictures with families! 🎅🏼 He was also the judge for the Den Leader snowman contest. ☃️ Which Den do you think won?! What a joy to see the full transformation of our previous worship space renovated to help families in need through Family Promise at the ribbon cutting earlier this morning. ❤️ We can't wait for more and more families to be served in the months to come! 🙌🏼

We're already beginning to put the tractor to work and we have big plans for it's use throughout next year for our Community Garden and the rest of our property 🙌🏼

What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church? What made me stay was the friendly, outgoing people I met on the first visit. The pastors and congregants showed an interest in me and seemed genuine when greeting and welcoming me. 2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church? I wanted to join, which was a decision I did not take lightly. I like to be involved with like-minded people, who share a common vision and an uplifting spirit. This is not something you can determine after a couple of visits, but usually requires the test of time. This church has shown that it is Christ driven and has a desire to nurture people at the level that their relationship is with Christ, as well as help them grow in that relationship. When you join a church, you are not joining a building. You are joining with the people to become the church. Each person is a vital building block in the composition of what becomes a church. 3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church? I hope to be a strong building block in the composition of the church. I hope to help this church grow, in membership as well as in the community. My hope and prayer is that this church becomes a shining light in the community, that will attract other belivers in Christ, like a lighthouse shining in the dark to help lost travellers find their way back!

What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church? It had been a long time since I had seen a family church and wasn't sure they still existed. I stayed because this is my wife's childhood church and I liked its direction. 2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church? I had been thinking about it and I felt like if I really want to help this church succeed, I should kind of put my money where my mouth is. 3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church? That it continues to welcome all-comers. That it continues to welcome them like family. That it will always look outward and not be closed off to the community.

What an amazing, faith-filled Sunday! We welcomed 5 new members, including one baptism! 🙏🏼💧😇 We also recognized All Saints (pausing to remember those faith-filled folks who have poured into and shaped us but have passed away) during our celebration of Communion. We also had a story of faith shared from one of our charter members of our church. 🤩 ❤️🙌🏼 That’s a lot of church “stuff” but what it boils down to is that we are GRATEFUL for all that God has done, is doing, and will do!! 🥰

Happy Halloween! What an amazing time we had at Trunk-R-Treat we had this past Sunday! Thank you to Oakwood Police Dept, the city of Oakwood, UNG- Gainesville, Oakwood First UMC, Hope Fellowship Presbyterian, McEver Rd Church, and all the folks that showed up. Congratulations to our kiddos best costume, chili cookoff winner, and best decorated trunk. The weather was great and it was great day to be in community together.

Last Saturday was so much fun with our Halloween Costume Paw-ty for both pets and humans! Cookie-crafting, potion-making, pet blessing, and Photo Booth fun! 🐶🦴🕸️🕷️🎃🧙‍♂️🙌🏼 (Shout out to Pet Supplies Plus and Pet Pleasers Bakery for their awesome donations for the grand-prize pet costume contest winners!! 😉🧡) We are keeping the Halloween vibes going with our Trunk-or-Treat event TOMORROW (Sunday) from 4 pm - 6 pm at downtown Oakwood! We hope you had as great of a Monday as these students did! We were grateful to be able to partner with the choir program of West Hall High School to donate five acoustic guitars, four electric pianos w/ stands, and 14 sets of headphones!! Thank you to Mr. Elsey, Choir Teacher, and Ms. McNeilly, School Counselor, for bringing us this opportunity to help meed the need of the program's student enrollment significantly increasing this year. More instruments mean these added students now have the opportunity to better learn and rehearse! We're excited about our developing our partnership with WHHS and are grateful the ongoing support of Principal Hathcock! 🎸🎹🎧🎶❤️

There's always some unanticipated needs that come up at the beginning of the school year. We're glad that one of our Sunday School classes already donated money for school supplies just for this reason! We were able to purchase lots of binders for West Hall Middle School!! We're always grateful to support our schools! 🤓📚💯

Our Back to School Bash was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! 🤩 Thank you to everyone who helped pull everything together for fun treats, crafts, trivia w/ fun give-aways and prizes, and TONS of school supply donations for Hall County Schools. Thank you to Liquid Nation Brewing for always being amazing hosts and providing the free root beer for our root beer floats for families!! Thank you to Love on Tap for running the trivia and bringing the “kid” out of all of us! Thank you to Jennifer from Blessed and Highly Flavored for all the yummy treat give-aways and $25 gift card for the grand prize!! It was a wonderful afternoon of bringing people together and doing good in the name of Jesus! We even blessed a couple of families who came needing supplies. ❤️ We look forward to distributing the remaining donations throughout the coming week to serve and love even more families! 🙌🏼

What a fun-filled morning for our Back to School Sunday learning about Jesus, our Master Teacher, who invited us to build our lives on him. The kids and the whole congregation received LEGO pieces with hearts drawn on them as a reminder of God’s far-reaching, never-giving-up, never running-out love, which is worth building our lives with! Thanks to all the love shown through all the donations given throughout the week and this morning for our surrounding schools!! Blessings on all the students, families, teachers, faculty, staff, and school supporters as they prepare to begin a new year!! 🙏🏼❤️😇

Well that’s a wrap on Summer Explorers ’23. Yesterday was our last Wednesday and we finished with water day! Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that trusted us with your kiddos. Thank you to all our volunteers who made sure these young ones had a fun time learning about Jesus. Thank you to our youth who were a big help. And thank you to all the folks at McEver Rd Church for your support.

We had an amazing day at Summer Explorers last week learning about how Jesus is the Bread of Life. We also got out and enjoyed the fruits of nature and Pastor Tyler led us on a walk through the meditation trail. Join us this Wednesday (7/26) for our last Summer Explorers. Even if you haven’t been on a Wednesday yet, you are invited! We’ll learn about how Jesus used water in so much of his teaching. We also might get a little wet ourselves! Our new Dinner Church Team had a great evening of food, fellowship, and devotion as folks grew closer together and made initial plans to serve and support our partnership with Family Promise of Hall County. The best is yet to come!

We had a great day this past Wednesday at Summer Explorers! With our garden theme we learned about Jesus in the Garden of Gathsemane, made flower “stain glass” art, ate fresh fruit and veggies, and the weather even gave us a window to check out some of the cool stuff growing in the community garden. What started as a seminary project has developed into a blessing of meaningful spiritual growth and contemplation. Tonight our “Mindful Monastic Meal” group got together for a shared meal of delicious veggie and bread recipes and shared reflection on Psalm 8. Thank you Lloyd and Florence Smee for hosting!

We were grateful to have had Rev. Bryan Smith join us during a portion of our Leadership Team meeting yesterday afternoon to encourage us and help us better understand the multitude of opportunities to partner and serve our surrounding schools. We are grateful for how that had already begun and especially excited about where God is leading us and our congregation to begin championing this kind of work ❤️😇

A little "birdie" told us there are three new bird houses up in our Community Garden!! 🐦🏠 Next time you come visit, see if you can spot them! 🥸🔎 We have loved seeing more activity that these lovely little houses have brought! 😇

Cub Scout Pack 204 got BUSY this evening digging and planting in our Community Garden 🌱😎🙌🏼 One of our goals with our Community Garden is to have several plots donated to community organizations, especially for schools and groups like Scouting so kids can learn more about the world in a hands on way. We think Pack 204 accomplished that! ✅💯🤩

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our Special Easter Offering!! Due to your generosity, we raised $3,305 of the $5,900 balance of outstanding fees for seniors at West Hall High School. 😇 This generous contribution will offset those fees for these seniors who might not otherwise be able to pay them and receive their diplomas. These students have worked hard academically and are expected to graduate but are unable to do so often due to circumstances beyond their control or ability. He is Risen, indeed!” ✝️💐🌸🌺 We had a full morning of celebration and fellowship through our sunrise service, Easter breakfast, and 11 am service. 😇 The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection is that “the worst part of your story is NOT the end of your story.” As Pastor Tyler said, “Whatever we have buried in our hearts - whatever is broken, dying, or dead - Jesus wants to roll away those stones over our hearts and bring new life, redemption, and resurrection to us, here and now.” 🥀➡️❤️➡️🌷 We pray that you have a blessed Easter season! 🙏🏼

We're grateful to have heard all the wonderful updates and opportunities for our partnership with HUGS (Help Us Go to School) Guatemala this past Sunday! Thanks to everyone's support and generosity as we'll be sending more team members on a trip later in March and we've been able to raise and additional $800! 🙌🏼

We are grateful for the response from all ages this past Sunday to step out in faith to help make Dinner Church happen for the community. More details coming soon! What is Dinner Church? Dinner Church is a way of doing church differently, designed specifically for people who wouldn't show up on Sunday. Much of Jesus’ ministry took place around the dinner table. Parables were told, connections were made, people were healed, all around the dinner table of Jesus. As McEver Rd Church continues to be led by the Holy Spirit, we feel called to start this new way of reaching out to our community.

Shout out to our "Love on Tap" group, where people stepped up to donate over 130 lbs of food for the South Hall Food Pantry with our partnership with Liquid Nation Brewing. God is good! 💯 From LOT: The count is in! Drum roll…. 🥁We collected 133 lbs of donated goods for the South Hall Food Pantry on Sunday, February 19!! 🙌🏼 That’s roughly $230 dollars donated! More importantly, each pound of food is roughly equivalent to 1 meal. That’s 133 meals for people experiencing food insecurity. AND many peoppe that benefit from the food pantry are families (averaging 4 per household) which means y’all were a part of supporting over 30 families. 😇 THANK YOU for your generosity 🙏🏼

Another great morning of worship, especially as we learned more about the amazing opportunities we have through our partnership with HUGS (Help Us Ho to School) for Guatemala. We also got to pray for and commission the next team (not all pictured) going to Guatemala in just a couple of weeks, including Pastor Tyler!

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, where we intentionally draw closer to God with Gods help. Pastor Tyler reminded us to slow down and spend more time with where we are, rather than focusing on where were not. God starts with grace. God knows where we are and meets us there knowing we’re far from where we need to be and yet God still chooses to help us and graciously leads us to that place. May we be surprised to learn that rather than God being disappointed about where we’re not, we’ll learn that God is eager for us to take the next faithful step right where we are. 🙏🏼

We had a good turnout today doing some spring cleaning on campus this morning as we prepare to finish out the lower level of the Bagley House for our future, dedicated children’s and youth space!! These kiddos will have a lot more room to have fun, experience the love of Jesus, and learn to share that love with others 😇🙌🏼
